Lessons & Workshops
Erik’s passion for education and the rich and diverse world of percussion has taken him on a musical journey from Europe to China and back. He now enjoys sharing this experience through guided, structured, and inspiring percussion lessons.
Erik teaches a wide range of instruments, including drum set, congas, timbales, cajón, batá drums, and many others, adapting each lesson to the student’s goals and level. Lessons are tailored to support technical development, musical understanding, and stylistic versatility.
Furthermore, you can also enroll in Erik’s lessons at the Conservatoire d’Esch-sur-Alzette, in Luxembourg.
He will gladly help you discover the fascinating and exciting world of drums and percussion.
Teaching career
At Codarts, Conservatory of Rotterdam, Erik completed his Bachelor and Master degrees, specializing in Latin-American drums and percussion, graduating with ‘Cum Laude’ honours in both.
As of 2022, he is teaching at the Conservatory of Music of Esch-sur-Alzette in Luxembourg. Here you can follow drum set as well as Latin percussion lessons with him. For the first time, the Conservatory of Music of Esch-sur-Alzette offers Latin percussion lessons in the multicultural south of Luxembourg.
Since his return to Europe, Erik has been also teaching freelance. He does so at his studios, online or at the student's place. In addition, he is active as a substitute teacher in the Latin music department at Codarts Rotterdam, in the Netherlands and at the Music School of Echternach and the UGDA, in Luxembourg.
Prior to teaching and performing on a regular basis in the Benelux, mostly in The Netherlands and Luxembourg, Erik was based in China, working as a teacher and department coordinator at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music, in Guangzhou. Besides teaching drums and percussion, he also gave diverse lectures and workshops related to Latin American music, as well as other World Music topics.
Erik’s lessons are available in English, Spanish, French, German, Dutch and Luxembourgish. He teaches all around the Benelux, having two studios: in Luxembourg and in Amsterdam.
