Egbe llu
Afro-Cuban Collective
Egbe Ilu is a vibrant Afro-Cuban collective composed of dedicated European musicians and dancers, rooted in The Netherlands. Born from a shared passion, this dynamic group emerged from members who first started accompanying Ronald Pieters' Afro-Cuban dance classes in Amsterdam with the enchanting music of live Afro-Cuban folkloric percussion and singing.
As they grew together, both as a community and as friends, the collective took shape under the name Egbe Ilu, meaning "community of the drum". Their mission is to spread the spirit of Afro-Cuban music and dance throughout Europe.
Performing weekly in Amsterdam for Ronald Pieters' and Charissa Hardenbol's Afro-Cuban dance classes, the collective has also graced numerous festivals and dance organizations across The Netherlands and beyond, sharing their passion and energy with audiences far and wide.
